Keeping the promises

In an age of stories about how love kills dreams, snatches away life and betrays people, comes a tale of love which proves that love can do wonders, it promises that love can give life, it can change the dimensions and directions of one's life. It can make an aimless person get oriented towards his ultimate vision for life.

A beautiful poignant tale which makes you shed tears, feel sad but then gives you the lesson of how to love unconditionally.

"Keeping The Promises" is a love story but it doesn't stop with just the realms of love. The horizons of the story stretch wider than just love. It is also about friendship, sacrifices, endurance, pains and every human emotion, be it between the affection between siblings, or of a father who has aspirations and dreams for his son, or of a mother who only wishes the well being and happiness of her son, or friends who are up to any extent for friendship.

Of all emotions, my heart went down to the parents of a dying M who broke all trivial norms of the society and took that extra step to give her a happy farewell and made her last days ecstatic for her because they knew that her happiness lay with him and they were ready to share her last moments with him.

Another very positive side of the story was that every character lets go of their ego at some stage for one cause.....just to celebrate love and ensure that every promise to M is kept.
Life is too short to be engrossed in trivial things like pride and ego!

"M", the mystery girl is the focal point of the story who spins the entire tale lying on her death bed. She sets everything right for her lover, for her friends before she parts from the world, thereby making her the epitome of love and sacrifice.

Nilu, the childhood friend does everything possible to bring him back to life and also help him fulfill his promises to his lover. Without expectations, without conditions,  she patiently goes about paving way for him to go on. So she is another character who teaches us that love is not all about attaining but also about let go, tolerance and patience.

Letting go or rather bidding farewell to a dear one next to impossible. The story tides past such a phase and tells you how love can make it possible in the most beautiful way. It teaches you that when things aren't in your hands, then gracefully accept it and make the moments memorable enough to treasure for a life time.

Taj Mahal is considered as the symbol of love, though I have never come in terms with that. Any day, for me, it is a tomb which is a memory of death.
Keeping the promises is a memory of life and love which for me is the real symbol of love because M will live forever in the memories of all readers. I had read somewhere, that a person whose lover is a writer will never die. That theory comes true with this book.

Though it makes us cry at times, it ends with a positive note of a second chance in life and love. The story never ends as I believe that every end is a fresh start and a hope for a new tomorrow. Even when everything seems to crumble down, the entire life turns upside down and we fall into a complete dark abyss, there would be something to look up to, something to live for, dream for and here the promises are those hopes to live on.

All said about the tears and pains, the story has its lighter moments too. The funny instances from the college life, the hostel, the friendship makes us nostalgic and go back to our own college days.
Oh yes, not to forget the beautiful scene at the river front which just stole my heart away. The description of the visuals, the conversation were picture perfect and I felt I was right there sitting next to the fantastic four and playing with the waters!

In short, "Keeping the Promises" weaves together love, passion and all craziness that accompanies with it keeping intact the emotional factor of the entire plot.
It is an amazingly brilliant, emotional roller coaster! A must read for all who believe in love and the power of love!

Except for a few editing errors (the story keeps us engrossed enough to ignore them), the book is a perfect read for all romantic hearts out there.
